Kärnten Läuft celebrates 25th anniversary at Lake Wörthersee

The Kärnten Läuft running event is celebrating its 25th anniversary at Lake Wörthersee from August 28 to 30. The anniversary edition is expected to attract approximately 10,000 participants from 65 different nations, featuring a variety of competitions ranging from children's sprints to family races.

A central highlight of the weekend is the Wörthersee Half Marathon, which will also serve as the Austrian Half Marathon Championship. The championship features 260 registered runners. In the women's category, marathon record holder Julia Mayer is the top favorite following a strong 10th-place finish at the European Championships. In the men's category, Timo Hinterndorfer enters as the favorite after achieving a personal best in Berlin.

The international field includes prominent runners such as Kenyan athletes Matthew Kiplimo Lagat and Janet Ruguuru. Running legend Eliud Kipchoge also sent video congratulations to the event for its milestone anniversary.
