Kärnten Läuft celebrates 25th anniversary with record participation
The 25th anniversary of Kärnten Läuft saw a record-breaking turnout, with 10,000 runners from 69 nations participating. The event included the Kleine Zeitung Wörthersee Half Marathon, which also served as the Austrian National Championships.
In the men's championship race, Timo Hinterndorfer secured the national title with a time of 1:04:20, running much of the course solo. Dominik Hirczy took silver, followed by Timon Theuer in third. In the general race, Raymond Cheruiyot won the men's category in 1:01:53, narrowly defeating Amos Kirui and Mathew Kiplimo Lagat in a close finish.
In the women's championship, Julia Mayer claimed the national title with a time of 1:12:31. Janet Riguru won the general women's race in 1:09:22. The event also marked the debut of the AREA SÜD CHALLENGE, which saw approximately 700 participants connecting Carinthia and Styria through running.
