Kroger appoints Greg Foran as CEO as Conagra reshuffles leadership

Greg Foran, former head of Walmart U.S. operations, has been named chief executive officer of Kroger, the nation’s largest traditional supermarket chain. His appointment follows the collapse of Kroger’s $24.6 billion merger with Albertsons and comes as the retailer plans to close about 60 underperforming stores, invest in AI‑driven supply‑chain tools and modernise its digital experience.

At the same time, Conagra Brands announced a leadership overhaul. Chief operating officer Tom McGough will retire in September and the COO position will be eliminated. President and CEO John Brase will now receive direct reports from EVP and president Noelle O’Mara (Refrigerated and Frozen), EVP and president Jill Dexter (Grocery & Snacks) and EVP and chief growth officer Burke Raine, who will oversee foodservice, international operations and R&D.
