Krokstadelva fire drives cat search; Råde house struck by speeding car

A blaze that swept through Krokstadelva turned the neighbourhood into a disaster zone, forcing firefighters and police to evacuate residents and rescue dogs while dozens of cats went missing. Of the 30 cats initially reported missing, most have been recovered, but nine remain unfound. Volunteers and staff from Dyrebeskyttelsen have set dozens of traps in the surrounding forest and continue the search, describing the scene as a "shock" for the animals.

In Råde, a car travelling at high speed jumped a field and crashed into a family home, shattering windows and tearing off the roof. No one inside the house was injured, but the four men in the vehicle, all in their twenties, were critically hurt and taken to hospital. Police have charged the driver with reckless driving and are investigating the circumstances of the crash, with witnesses recalling the impact as sounding like "a very big explosion".
