Kruševac officials face resignation calls over school safety concerns
Opposition councilors Marija Vučković and Stefan Bojičić are demanding the resignations of Kruševac Mayor Ivan Manojlović, School Administration Head Zoran Asković, and the director of Dragomir Marković Elementary School, Marija Marjanović.
The calls follow allegations that local officials minimized safety risks at the school. While authorities previously claimed the building was secure, an official document from the Kruševac City Administration ordered the immediate suspension of classes in one wing of the facility for safety reasons.
Reports from contractors suggest that structural damage, specifically cracks in load-bearing reinforced concrete beams, may have been intentionally concealed by covering them with plaster and mesh during previous works. The opposition is calling for urgent investigations by inspection bodies and the prosecution into all contracts and construction work performed on the school building.
