Kruger National Park flood repairs to cost R950 million

Repairs to infrastructure in Kruger National Park following severe flooding in January 2026 are estimated to cost approximately R950 million. The damage affected roads, accommodation, and water-related infrastructure.

Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment David Maynier conducted a visit to the park to receive briefings on the reconstruction programme. He noted that the recovery effort aims to build more modern and resilient facilities rather than simply repairing existing damage.

Significant progress has been made at the Letaba Rest Camp, one of the hardest-hit areas. The A and B circles at Letaba are expected to be operational by September 2026, and the Letaba High-Level Bridge has already reopened with final reconstruction work nearing completion.
