Krum Zarkov warns of social inequality and political division in Bulgaria
Krum Zarkov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) National Council, addressed political and social challenges during a gathering in Koprivki to honor anti-fascist fighters. Zarkov warned that social inequality, scarcity, and injustice create fertile ground for fascism and hateful ideologies, noting that such sentiments often arise when people are directed toward a perceived ‘enemy.’
Zarkov questioned whether political parties in the National Assembly are adequately preparing for the upcoming winter and the subsequent months. He criticized recent political trends involving compromising accusations and finger-pointing, arguing that these actions do not address the real challenges facing the nation.
He further highlighted economic disparities in Bulgaria, stating that a small number of individuals hold excessive wealth while many others live without basic security or prospects. Zarkov called for systemic changes to address how public funds are distributed and urged for a more profound, thought-driven political debate rather than superficial conflict.
