Krung Thai Bank Q2 profit climbs 9% to 12.1bn baht on loan and wealth business growth

Krung Thai Bank (KTB) reported a net profit of 12,125 million baht for the second quarter of 2026, a 9 % increase from the same period a year earlier. The rise was driven by a 5.1 % expansion in total loans, with strong contributions from retail, large‑corporate and government lending, alongside a 10.3 % jump in fee‑based income from its Wealth business. The bank maintained a return on equity of 10.5 % and a high coverage ratio of 205 %. Net interest margin fell to 2.45 % as interest income declined 13.5 % following lower rates, but cost‑efficiency measures helped sustain profitability. KTB highlighted its support for SMEs through the SME Credit Boost programme and reiterated its view that Thailand’s economy is evolving in a “K‑shape”, with uneven growth across sectors.

The bank expects continued cautious lending, ongoing debt‑restructuring for target groups and an emphasis on non‑interest income to sustain earnings amid a challenging macro‑economic environment.
