ZUS updates benefits, pensions, and financial regulations in Poland

Various updates regarding social security, pensions, and financial regulations in Poland have been highlighted. The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has clarified that entrepreneurs can receive care allowances for up to 60 days a year if they are covered by sickness insurance. Additionally, cancer patients may be eligible for supporting benefits of up to 4,352.70 PLN monthly, provided they meet specific disability assessment criteria.

Regarding pensions, significant changes are approaching. From January 1, 2027, the widow's pension will increase, with the second benefit's share rising from 15% to 25% of the amount. Senior citizens may also benefit from combining the nursing allowance with the energy lump sum in specific cases. Furthermore, ZUS has announced schedule adjustments for November pension payments due to upcoming holidays.

In the business and tax sectors, experts noted that unregistered activities must adhere to quarterly income limits to avoid mandatory business registration. Financial institutions are also reminded of their obligation to monitor transactions for anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, noting that banks may request documentation for unusual or frequent transfers regardless of the specific amount.
