KRUS reports over 4,000 agricultural accidents in Poland

The Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) reported 4,284 agricultural accidents during the first half of 2026. While this represents a 3 percent decrease compared to the previous year, safety remains a significant concern. Falls accounted for 49.2 percent of accidents that resulted in one-time compensation payments.

Key risks identified include working with machinery, handling animals, and working at heights. KRUS President Tomasz Ślusarczyk emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between work and rest, specifically noting the need for hydration during heatwaves.

To improve safety, KRUS is focusing on educating children and youth through initiatives such as the ‘Moja Wizja Zero’ (My Vision Zero) film competition. Current regulations prohibit children under the age of 16 from performing certain tasks, such as driving tractors or operating agricultural machinery. Entries for the film competition are being accepted until September 30.
