KRUS: Sejm approves up to 1 billion PLN subsidy for agricultural pensions
The Polish Sejm has passed a law allowing for a budget subsidy increase of up to 1 billion PLN for the KRUS Pension and Disability Fund. This measure aims to ensure the continuity of payments, specifically addressing potential funding gaps for agricultural benefits such as widow pensions, which have seen higher demand than initially projected.
The legislation provides the Minister of Finance with the flexibility to adjust funding based on actual needs without requiring repeated parliamentary approval. While the law secures the fund's ability to meet obligations, it does not mandate an immediate payout of the full amount nor does it automatically increase individual benefit rates.
Separately, KRUS has announced details regarding the thirteenth pension payment scheduled for September 2026. The maximum gross amount is set at 1,978.49 PLN. Eligibility is based on the status of agricultural pensions or disability benefits as of August 31, 2026. A “złotówka for a złotówka” rule applies: individuals with gross benefits exceeding 2,900 PLN will see their thirteenth pension reduced by the amount of the excess, with the benefit ceasing entirely if gross benefits exceed 4,828.49 PLN.
