Kryscina Cimanouska comments on Aryna Sabalenka’s political stance

Belarusian sprinter Kryscina Cimanouska, who has represented Poland internationally since 2023, has commented on the political stance of tennis star Aryna Sabalenka regarding the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.

In an interview, Cimanouska expressed mixed feelings about Sabalenka’s decision not to publicly condemn the Belarusian government. While acknowledging that Sabalenka may be hesitant due to having family in Belarus, Cimanouska noted that Sabalenka’s immense global influence could potentially be used to assist people or advocate for change.

The discussion follows appeals from Belarusian opposition figures, such as Paweł Łatuszki, who suggested that Sabalenka has the platform to call for the release of female political prisoners in Belarus.
