Krzemionki hosts 6th Prehistoric and Ancient Culture Festival

The 6th Ostrowiec Prehistoric and Ancient Culture Festival is currently taking place at the Krzemionki Archaeological Museum and Reserve. The event aims to demonstrate life in prehistoric and ancient times through various historical reconstructions.

Participants are showcasing ancient crafts, including flint and amber processing, weaving, and iron smelting. A key feature of the festival is the demonstration of 'dymarki'—traditional furnaces used to obtain iron—along with blacksmithing techniques.

Additionally, members of Legio XIIII GMV are performing reenactments of Roman legionary life from the first century AD, during the reign of Emperor Vespasian. These demonstrations include combat training, formation control, and ancient medical practices, such as simulated surgical procedures.
