Krzysztof Brejza alleges corruption in Polish military altar procurement

European Parliament member Krzysztof Brejza has raised allegations regarding a corruption scheme involving the procurement of mobile field altars for the Polish military. The investigation concerns a 2021 tender initiated by the 2nd Regional Logistics Base in Rembertów, which planned to purchase hundreds of liturgical sets.

Brejza claims that several individuals, including former Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz, stood to benefit from the contract. He alleged that in exchange for facilitating the deal, certain individuals received favors, such as having their vehicles repainted with expensive military-grade ceramic coating. Specifically, Brejza noted that Macierewicz’s Volkswagen Passat was reportedly coated in high-value 'bullet' paint worth tens of thousands of zlotys.

The National Prosecutor's Office reportedly reopened the investigation in June 2026 following Brejza's inquiries. The case, which also involves a military court proceeding, examines claims of funds being diverted under the guise of religious equipment. While the Ministry of Defense eventually withdrew from the transaction following previous controversies, the legal scrutiny into the alleged 'arrangement' continues.
