Poland political shifts: PiS internal moves and government-presidency tensions

Polish political dynamics are shifting as Law and Justice (PiS) faces internal realignment and external criticism. Przemysław Czarnek, a PiS candidate for Prime Minister, stated that while leaving the European Union is currently against Poland's interests, the party will fight against what he calls “absurdities” in EU policy that threaten the economy and agriculture.

Internal party movements are also notable, as MP Sławomir Skwarek has decided to return to the PiS parliamentary club after previously being part of Mateusz Morawiecki’s Rozwój Plus group. While Jarosław Kaczyński suggested this could encourage others to return, some political analysts express skepticism regarding the party's leadership and its ability to maintain unity.

Meanwhile, tensions have escalated between the government and the presidency. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, representing the New Left, criticized President Karol Nawrocki’s recent comments regarding national territory, labeling them as “sabotage” and “treason of the state.” Gawkowski emphasized that the current coalition remains committed to defending Polish borders and modernizing the military.
