Krzysztof Wilk to return as parish priest in Kraków following Vatican ruling

Father Krzysztof Wilk will be reinstated as the parish priest of the Divine Mercy Parish in Kraków-Nowy Prokocim, effective October 18. This decision follows a ruling from the Vatican.

In December 2023, Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski removed Father Wilk from his position, though the specific reasons were not disclosed at the time. Following a legal process, the Dicastery for the Clergy withdrew its previous decree of removal. The Dicastery took into account the arguments presented by Father Wilk during proceedings before the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, which subsequently approved the decision.

The Archdiocese of Kraków issued a statement requesting a warm welcome for Father Wilk as he resumes his duties. The Archdiocese also expressed gratitude to Father Dr. Paweł Głowacz for serving as the parish administrator during the interim period.
