Kőszeg intermodal transport hub construction to begin in August
Construction of an intermodal transportation hub in Kőszeg is scheduled to begin in late August. The project, valued at approximately 2.5 billion forints, aims to synchronize railway and bus services to facilitate faster transfers and modernize station infrastructure.
Key features of the development include a new local and regional bus station located adjacent to the railway station, an extended shared platform with three covered waiting areas, and a climate-controlled waiting area. The project also includes a 54-space P+R parking lot, ten bus storage spaces, and improved cycling infrastructure, including a new cycling connection and a dedicated railway crossing for cyclists.
To complete the hub, an unused industrial track and warehouse will be demolished, and existing tracks and turnouts will be reconstructed. The station building itself will undergo partial renovation. Passengers will benefit from updated visual and audio information systems and a new CCTV camera network.
