KT expands multilingual telecom services after Seoul foreign‑resident forum

South Korean telecom operator KT Corp. held its fourth Customer Listening Forum at the Seoul Foreign Resident Center, inviting 14 foreign residents and naturalized citizens from ten countries—including Vietnam, Indonesia, Russia, the Philippines, Mongolia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Participants shared challenges such as registration difficulties, identity‑verification hurdles and language barriers, with a Russian attendee highlighting issues caused by longer Russian names in Korean transcription and a Filipino attendee urging more in‑store support.

KT said the feedback will be reviewed to improve services for overseas residents. The carrier already operates around 180 dedicated KT Global Stores staffed with multilingual consultants, and its AI‑driven multilingual service, launched on June 15, can assist customers in more than 20 languages. The share of foreign‑customer subscriptions processed through these stores rose to 23 % in January 2024. Executive Vice President Park Hyun‑jin called the forum a "meaningful event" and pledged to strengthen customer protection so expatriates can use telecom services without barriers.
