Kütahya ceramic heritage showcased at international festival in Faenza

The ceramic heritage of Kütahya, Turkey, was showcased at an international ceramic festival held in Faenza, Italy, from September 4 to 6. The event, which expands to an international scale every two years, brought together ceramic artists from around the world.

Ceramic artist Arzu Kıvanç represented Kütahya and Turkey at the festival. She noted the similarities between the ceramic traditions of Kütahya and Faenza, which is recognized as Italy’s ceramic capital. Participation in the festival is granted to artists following a formal application and evaluation process.

The Faenza ceramic museum currently exhibits Turkish, Kütahya, and Iznik ceramic works, alongside historical pieces dating back to Mesopotamia. The presence of these works has increased international awareness and interest in Kütahya’s cultural ceramic heritage.
