Kütahya Dumlupınar teams finish 2nd and 4th at Turkey university championship

Kütahya Dumlupınar University (DPÜ) handball squads achieved top placements at the Turkish University Sports Federation's UNILIG Summer Sports Festival. The women's team topped Group B with victories over Mardin Artuklu (38‑31), Erciyes (34‑24) and Ağrı İ. Çeçen (35‑16), won the quarter‑final against Onsekiz Mart (39‑36) and finished as runners‑up after losing to Bursa Uludağ in the final. The men's team led Group C unbeaten, beating Millî Savunma (53‑29), Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (35‑24) and Erciyes (41‑25), reached the semi‑finals before falling to Istanbul Aydın, and placed fourth after a loss to Gümüşhane in the bronze match.

Following the tournament, the university’s Faculty of Sports Science dean and coaches met with Rector Süleyman Kızıltoprak, who praised the athletes’ determination and announced that the university’s beach handball team earned the right to represent Turkey at the 2026 European University Games after winning the 2025 national title.
