Kütahya officials discuss 2027-2031 Disaster Risk Reduction Plan

Officials and academic leaders in Kütahya met to evaluate preparations for the 2027-2031 period of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (İRAP). The meeting, attended by Kütahya Governor Musa Işın and Dumlupınar University Rector Prof. Dr. Süleyman Kızıltoprak, focused on increasing disaster preparedness and strengthening cooperation between institutions.

Governor Işın highlighted that Kütahya is vulnerable to various risks, including earthquakes, forest fires, landslides, rockfalls, and mining-related incidents. He emphasized the necessity of strict adherence to zoning and construction legislation by municipalities and provincial administrations to minimize loss of life and property.

Rector Kızıltoprak stated that the most critical step in disaster management is the accurate identification of risks before they manifest. He noted that Dumlupınar University will support these efforts through its Disaster and Emergency Management Training, Application, and Research Center (AFAMER), providing scientific expertise and conducting awareness training to foster a culture of preparedness within the community.
