KTEL Magnesia apologizes after passenger told to place cat on bus stairs
The Panhellenic Animal Welfare and Environmental Federation (PFPO) has filed a complaint against KTEL Magnesia following an incident involving a passenger traveling with a cat on a bus from Volos to Athens on August 18.
According to the federation, staff and security personnel allegedly treated the passenger in an unacceptable manner by requesting that the cat be placed in the aisle or on the bus stairs. The PFPO argues this was a misinterpretation of the law, noting that current regulations allow small companion animals to travel within the passenger area provided they are in a secure carrier, rather than in aisles, entry/exit points, or luggage areas.
In response, KTEL Magnesia issued a letter apologizing to the passenger and stating that explanations have been requested from the employees involved. The company noted that if negligence is found, disciplinary actions will be taken in accordance with internal regulations. The management emphasized that staff are continuously updated on legislation regarding the transport of companion animals.
