KTEZO disputes transfer of public land to Ministry of Economy and Energy

The Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (KTEZO) has raised concerns regarding the transfer of three parcels of land belonging to the Nicosia Turkish Municipality to the Ministry of Economy and Energy. KTEZO claims the Council of Ministers made this decision to facilitate private use of these areas, which currently serve as parking lots and green spaces.

The dispute involves a 400-450 square meter prefabricated structure built in violation of contracts and project specifications. Although the Nicosia Turkish Municipality won a legal battle after eighteen months of hearings, the demolition of the structure has been delayed due to an appeal by the owners to the Supreme Court. KTEZO warned that using public land for private purposes could increase social chaos and diminish trust in the legal system and governance.
