KTM rejects single-motor rule but supports MotoGP cost cap

KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister has expressed opposition to a proposed MotoGP rule that would limit riders to a single motorcycle per weekend to reduce operational costs. The proposal would prevent riders from immediately switching to a spare bike if their primary motorcycle suffers a technical issue or crash during practice sessions.

While rejecting the single-motor rule, Neumeister voiced support for implementing a cost cap similar to Formula 1. He argued that manufacturers should contribute to controlling expenses without compromising the quality of the racing spectacle.

Neumeister suggested that cost-cutting measures should focus on areas invisible to spectators, such as adopting a single supplier for the 100% non-fossil fuel required for the 2027 season. He noted that while manufacturers must manage budgets, the primary goal should be maintaining an engaging show for fans.
