KTM resolves MotoGP engine issues despite depleted allocations

KTM has successfully addressed the engine reliability issues that plagued its RC16 motorcycles during the first half of the 2026 MotoGP season. The manufacturer identified a faulty component, reportedly from an external supplier in the pneumatic valve area, and received permission from rival manufacturers—including Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, and Yamaha—to bypass the standard engine-freeze regulations to perform necessary repairs.

While the technical fix is now in place, the team faces significant logistical challenges regarding engine allocations. Due to the previous technical failures, KTM riders have already depleted their reserves. Pedro Acosta has had two engines withdrawn, while Brad Binder has lost three. Binder noted that he has only one fresh engine remaining in his allocation before the 19th round of the season, meaning he must manage his remaining units carefully to finish the year without further mishaps.
