Council of Ministers issues decree-laws on student amnesty and social insurance bonuses

The Council of Ministers has issued eight decree-laws, published in the Official Gazette, introducing several significant social and educational measures.

One major provision includes a one-time bonus of 40,000 TL for individuals receiving monthly payments or income from the Social Insurance Department, marking the department's 50th anniversary. This payment is scheduled for November and applies to those receiving benefits or those who qualify by applying before November 6.

Additionally, a new decree provides a student amnesty for those who were disconnected from higher education institutions. This regulation applies to students from the TR, CY, and other nationalities who left their programs due to failure, economic reasons, or personal choice prior to November 1, 2026. Eligible students, including those whose lateral transfers were canceled, have six months from the decree's effective date to apply to their former institutions to resume their studies. The Council of Ministers also included provisions regarding electricity and tax debt payment facilities.
