KTOEÖS protests full-day education and overcrowded classrooms

The Cyprus Turkish Middle Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) held a protest at Şehit Hüseyin Ruso Ortaokulu to oppose the implementation of full-day education. KTOEÖS President Ahmet Karaoğulları criticized the sustainability of the current system, citing overcrowded classrooms where student numbers often exceed 40.

Karaoğulları noted that while the ideal average class size is 23, many schools in northern Cyprus face significantly higher densities. He also highlighted rising discipline issues and peer bullying over the last five years. According to a union survey, over 90 percent of teachers are dissatisfied with the full-day education model. The union expressed concerns regarding the impact of uncontrolled population policies and language barriers on the learning environment.
