Kuala Lumpur adds nine open spaces to city green plan

Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh announced the gazettement of nine additional open‑space lots in Kuala Lumpur, bringing the total to 552 gazetted lots covering 468.36 hectares (about 655 football fields, 1.4 times the size of the Perdana Botanical Gardens). The new areas add 5.15 hectares of public recreation space across locations such as Batu, Setapak and Petaling districts.

The minister said the move reinforces the government’s commitment to balanced urban development, climate resilience and the protection of public leisure areas for families, seniors and children.
