Kuala Lumpur landmarks host World Federation of Great Towers Conference
The PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur recently hosted the World Federation of Great Towers (WFGT) Conference 2026. The event brought together over 70 delegates, including tourism leaders, industry experts, and operators of prominent global landmarks from more than 16 countries.
Under the theme ‘In Pursuit of Excellence’, the conference focused on innovation and raising standards within the global attractions industry. Discussions centered on how iconic landmarks can enhance city branding, increase destination competitiveness, and generate economic impact. The gathering aligns with Malaysia’s tourism goals for the 2026-2027 period.
Kuala Lumpur’s skyline has seen a significant shift in architectural dominance. While the PETRONAS Twin Towers remain a global icon, the Merdeka 118 skyscraper now stands as the city’s tallest structure. Reaching a height of 678.9 meters, Merdeka 118 is currently the second-tallest building in the world, following the Burj Khalifa.
