Kuala Lumpur police investigate rape involving forced vape inhalation

An 18-year-old woman has reported being raped in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, after a suspect allegedly forced her to inhale a vape, causing her to lose consciousness. Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook stated that the victim regained consciousness the following morning to find she had been stripped. Police are currently tracking the suspect, and the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.

Separately, medical experts are raising alarms regarding the physiological impact of vaping on youth. Professor Siti Munira Yasin from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) warned that nicotine can interfere with brain receptors, potentially slowing brain development and impairing learning, memory, behavior, and mood. Experts noted that nicotine addiction in adolescents can mirror drug addiction, leading to withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety and loss of focus when not using the device.
