Kuching South City Council addresses industrial infrastructure and school safety
The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is taking steps to improve infrastructure and safety within its jurisdiction. Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng recently chaired a meeting with the Sama Jaya Industrial Park Management Committee to enhance coordination between government agencies and industry representatives. The discussions focused on addressing critical operational concerns, including water supply capacity, water pressure, quality, and environmental management to support business expansion and investment in Sarawak.
Separately, MBKS is assessing safety improvements at SJK Sungai Apong following reports of a hazardous roadside drain. The council is exploring the installation of protective railings and the construction of a ramp to protect students and parents from potential accidents, particularly during heavy rain. This initiative is part of the council’s involvement in UNICEF’s Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI).
