Kuching unveils four smart city projects to boost urban resilience
Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has introduced four legacy projects aimed at enhancing urban resilience and sustainable development in Kuching. These initiatives, part of the Sarawak Urban Forum (SUF) 2.0 agenda, focus on improving public spaces, green mobility, technology integration, and environmental management.
The four specific projects include:
• Festival Square at Lebuh Java: A flexible public space for community, recreational, and cultural activities. • Millennium Park Connector: A green network designed to encourage active mobility and connectivity. • 3RKU Digital Recycling System and Gallery: A waste management initiative focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling through community stations. • Bamboo Park: A project dedicated to green recreational areas and biodiversity conservation.
Officiated by Deputy Minister Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Haji Junaidi, the projects align with the theme ‘Future-Ready Cities: Building a Resilient Future – Collaborate, Adapt, Thrive’. The initiatives seek to balance technological advancement with environmental stewardship to support a green economy and long-term community well-being.
