Kudret Özersay proposes transparency measures to combat corruption
Kudret Özersay, leader of the People's Party, has outlined a series of transparency measures intended to combat corruption if his party takes office. He emphasized that ending secretive administrative processes and ensuring public access to information is vital for oversight by the press, civil society, and the general public.
Proposed legislative changes include mandating the publication of all land leasing decisions in the Official Gazette, including agricultural lands leased through the Ministries of Interior, Agriculture, and Tourism, as well as industrial plots via the Ministry of Economy. Additionally, Özersay proposed that all citizenship grants issued by the Ministry of Interior must be published in the Official Gazette, similar to current requirements for decisions made by the Council of Ministers. The plan also includes requiring official, reasoned announcements for transportation permits and ensuring public notice for all state-led leasing activities.
