Kudus housing program completes 164 home renovations
A total of 164 uninhabitable houses in Kudus Regency, Central Java, have been renovated or rebuilt through the second phase of the Simple Habitable House (RSLH) program. The initiative, which involved a total investment of Rp11.4 billion, was implemented by PT Djarum and PT Hartono Istana Teknologi (Polytron) to assist low-income residents across eight districts.
Of the completed units, 109 were supported by PT Djarum and 55 by Polytron. The renovations focused on improving safety, comfort, and health standards, including better sanitation, lighting, and air circulation. The beneficiaries are located in the districts of Bae, Dawe, Jati, Jekulo, Kaliwungu, Gebog, Undaan, and Mejobo, with each house receiving approximately Rp70 million in assistance.
One beneficiary, Mariyanto, a technician from Gebog District, reported that his previous home had bamboo walls, a dirt floor, and a leaking roof. Following the renovation, his home now features two bedrooms and adequate bathroom facilities.
