Kudus Regent distributes agricultural machinery to support local farmers

The Regent of Kudus, Sam’ani Intakoris, has distributed agricultural machinery and tools (alsintan) to various farmer groups in the Undaan District to bolster food self-sufficiency and agricultural mechanization. The assistance, funded by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture and the Kudus Regional Budget (APBD), includes tractors, water pumps, and combine harvesters.

During the distribution, the Regent highlighted the importance of local wisdom in farming patterns. In Undaan, many farmers choose to cultivate sticky rice (ketan) rather than just paddy. While sticky rice is not categorized as a primary food crop, it supports the local economy by providing raw materials for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to produce traditional snacks like jenang and keciput.

Sam’ani Intakoris noted that Kudus maintains a significant rice surplus, with food self-sufficiency levels between 25,000 and 30,000 tons per year. The government aims to support diverse planting patterns—including mung beans and corn—while addressing water availability through optimized pump usage.
