Kuiper Wins St Michelin Horse Race in Finland
In the St Michelin race held despite rain, the horse Kuiper, trained and driven by Daniel Wäjersten, surged ahead after a slow start and finished first, earning over €400,000. The performance included a split‑second acceleration that broke the 5.5‑second per 500‑metre pace, securing the win for Wäjersten, who now holds victories in Finland’s four biggest international trotting events: Seinäjoki Race, Finlandia‑Ajo, Kymi Grand Prix and St Michelin.
The event also featured a Varsakunkku final where Viksun Cikka, trained by Sami Ikonen and driven by Santtu Raitala, claimed the €25,000 top prize after a dramatic finish. The races highlighted the competitive field, with horses such as Diva Ek and Don Fanucci Zet contesting early positions before Kuiper took command.
