Kujawsko-Pomorskie distributes 3,400 helmets to students
The “Helmet for Young Cyclists” initiative is distributing approximately 3,440 bicycle helmets to primary school students in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region of Poland. The program is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of National Education, with local education boards managing the distribution to schools.
Nationally, the Ministry of Infrastructure has purchased 65,000 helmets, funded by the European Union through the “European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021–2027” program. The initiative aims to improve road safety and promote responsible cycling habits among youth, following legal changes that introduced mandatory helmet use for those under 16.
A launch event held in Bydgoszcz included local officials, police, and educators. During the meeting, regional authorities highlighted the importance of the equipment in response to tragic local cycling accident statistics.
