Kuje Area Council Chairman denies infringing on residents' rights

Danjuma Shekwolo, Chairman of the Kuje Area Council in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, has denied allegations that he instructed residents to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) or leave the area.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Shekwolo addressed a viral video circulating on social media. He claimed his remarks, made during a meeting with APC youths and loyalists, were taken out of context and sensationalized. He stated that he has no authority to infringe upon the fundamental human rights of any resident or to disenfranchise citizens.

Shekwolo emphasized that his administration is committed to equitable governance and serving all constituents regardless of their political affiliation, ethnicity, or religion. He urged journalists to verify the full context of statements to avoid creating distorted narratives.
