KUKA launches AI-driven automation platform in U.S. automotive factories

KUKA Group has put its open orchestration platform, KUKA AMP, into operation in North American automotive production. The system links existing automation hardware with next‑generation AI technologies, allowing machines and robots to learn from operational data and make real‑time decisions.

The first deployment is at KUKA Toledo Production Operations in Ohio, where the platform initially supports autonomous mobile robots. KUKA AMP is designed to boost operational flexibility, increase productivity and turn large volumes of factory data into actionable insights. The rollout follows the company’s broader strategy to move artificial intelligence from pilot projects into large‑scale manufacturing, with the United States serving as a key market for its more than 3,400 local employees.

According to Marc Fleischmann, KUKA’s Chief Software and AI Officer, the platform creates a scalable foundation for “Physical AI”, enabling industrial automation to continuously improve performance through a closed‑loop data collection and analysis process.
