Kuldeep Sharma urges removal of Deepender Hooda from Congress Working Committee

Kuldeep Sharma, a former Haryana Assembly Speaker and Congress leader, has written to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge requesting the removal of MP Deepender Hooda from the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

The demand follows controversial remarks allegedly made by Hooda, in which he referred to Sajjan Kumar—convicted for his role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots—as a ‘role model’. Sharma stated that such remarks are irresponsible and could damage the party, particularly in Punjab and Haryana.

Sharma noted that the Sikh community has expressed significant anger and surprise regarding the comments. He emphasized that the party must avoid statements that hurt the sentiments of the community, especially as upcoming elections in Punjab make such political sensitivity crucial.
