Kulman Ghising urges Nepal government to recover unpaid industrial electricity dues

Ujyalo Nepal Party Chair Kulman Ghising called on the Nepalese government to immediately recover billions of rupees in premium electricity charges owed by industries that used dedicated and trunk transmission lines. In a social‑media post from Kathmandu, he questioned why the administration, which has pledged good governance, has remained silent while households face a 5% VAT on electricity consumption.

Ghising argued that the current government, holding a two‑thirds parliamentary majority, should have no obstacle to enforcing the law and retrieving the outstanding dues. He warned that political interference and a reopened administrative review process have hampered previous recovery efforts, and emphasized that true good governance is measured by equal application of the law to protect state revenue.
