Kulturhuset Stadsteatern announces 2026 International Literature Prize nominees

Kulturhuset Stadsteatern has announced the nominees for its 2026 International Literature Prize. Marking its 10th anniversary, the award has increased its prize money to 200,000 SEK, which is split equally between the author and the translator.

The prize recognizes outstanding works of fiction translated into Swedish. The jury described this year's nominated translations as “tonal, pulsating, and rhythmically precise.” The goal of the award is to strengthen the status of translated literature and introduce high-quality contemporary fiction to a wider audience.

Nominated titles include “Lamento” by Madame Nielsen, “Ersatz. Omloppsbanor” by Samantha Harvey, and works by Georgi Gospodinov and Samanta Schweblin. The winners will be announced on November 3.
