Kulturschmiede Merklinde to open in Castrop-Rauxel

The Kulturschmiede Merklinde is set to open on October 10 in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany. Located in the former Marienschule on Johannesstraße, the new center will serve as a community hub for music, theater, workshops, and family activities.

The opening celebration, organized by the citizen association ‘Wir sind Merklinde’, begins at 4:00 PM with free admission. The musical lineup includes the Jacoustics, an Erol Şile trio performing traditional Turkish instruments, the jazz-fusion band Uptime, and the hard-rock band Joe Doe.

Additional programming features improvisation theater by CasKultur, salsa and bachata workshops, and Qigong and Tai Chi sessions. Other activities include a mobile escape room, a youth disco with karaoke, and a billiards match. Catering for the event will be provided by Castrop-Rauxel refugee aid and the International Educational and Cultural Association for Women.
