Kumamoto Prefecture Launches Free Disaster Wi‑Fi “00000JAPAN”

On July 28, 2026, Wire & Wireless (Wi2), KDDI Corp., and NTT Docomo activated a free public Wi‑Fi service named “00000JAPAN” across Kumamoto Prefecture in response to the recent earthquake. The network is available at existing Wi‑Fi hotspots such as d Wi‑Fi and Wi2 sites, requires no password, and is deliberately unencrypted to prioritize rapid access during emergencies.
