Kumano City hosts karaoke recital for senior citizens

The Kumano City Senior Citizens Club Federation held its fiscal year 2026 karaoke recital at the Kumano City Cultural Exchange Center. The event, aimed at promoting health, social engagement, and care prevention among the elderly, saw a full house of members and local visitors.

Eighteen members from six local senior clubs performed songs they had practiced regularly. The oldest performer, 101-year-old Yaeko Yamakawa, opened the event with a rendition of ‘Haha Gokoro’ by Yuko Mikasa, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Federation President Ikuko Wada expressed gratitude to the participants and attendees, noting the event serves as a vital platform for members to showcase their skills and enjoy social interaction.
