Kumasi market traders pledge support to Asantehemaa

The 11-member Steering Committee of the Kumasi Central Market has formally pledged its support to the Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III. The delegation visited her at the Manhyia Palace on August 12, 2026, as part of the first Awukudee Festival held since her installation as the Queen Mother of Asanteman.

Kwabena Fosu, Chairman of the Kumasi Central Market Steering Committee, expressed gratitude to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the appointment and stated that traders are prepared to work closely with the Asantehemaa to promote orderly trading within the Kumasi Metropolis. The delegation also included Nana Sakina, the Queen Mother for Dry Fish Sellers, who reaffirmed the trading community's allegiance to the Manhyia Palace.
