Kumberg father confesses to killing eight-year-old daughter

A 37-year-old man has confessed to the killing of his eight-year-old daughter in Kumberg, Styria. According to police investigations, the suspect used a kitchen knife to attack the child while she was sleeping in her bedroom.

The suspect, identified in media reports as Daniel N., a university-educated engineer and construction company owner, told investigators that he intended to commit suicide and wanted to ‘take his daughter with him’ following disputes with his partner. After the attack, the man was found in a bathroom with self-inflicted wounds.

The incident occurred in a household that included several family members, with nine people living under one roof. The child was transported to a hospital in Graz but succumbed to her injuries. The mother of the child was present in the home during the tragedy and is currently receiving psychological support.
