Kumiko Takeda releases first major photo book in 23 years

Japanese model Kumiko Takeda is releasing her first major photo book in 23 years, titled ‘Sango’, published by Kodansha. The project was inspired by a conversation with a long-time editor friend while Takeda was at her home in San Diego.

Shot in Okinawa, the photo book features Takeda at age 57, showcasing her physique through various settings, including Ishigaki Island. Takeda noted that she had previously refrained from releasing such books to focus on her role as a mother, but felt ready to return now that her daughter is an adult.

The book, photographed by ND Chow, includes homages to her previous iconic works. Takeda mentioned that her preparation involved maintaining a consistent routine of exercise and diet, including a temporary break from wine to reduce bloating before the shoot.
