Kumluca Big Fish Fishing Tournament begins in Antalya
The third annual Kumluca Big Fish Fishing Tournament has commenced in the Kumluca district of Antalya, Turkey. Organized by Kumluca Municipality and the Kumluca Sportif Amatör Olta Balıkçıları Derneği (KUMSABDER), the event is held in the Mavikent Mahallesi Karaöz area.
Approximately 297 amateur fishermen from various Turkish provinces, including Adana, Mersin, Izmir, Muğla, and Fethiye, are participating with 99 boats. The competitors will spend two days fishing in the waters off Kumluca, specifically around Suluada, Beşadalar, and Mavikent, to catch the largest fish.
KUMSABDER President Erhan Aydoğmuş stated that the tournament aims to promote amateur fishing, encourage sustainable fishing practices for future generations, and raise awareness about the fish populations in the Mediterranean Sea. Mehmet Geçmen was recorded as having caught the first fish of the competition.
