Kumluca establishes forest management directorate after 66 years
The Kocanaz Forest Management Directorate has been officially established in the Kumluca town of Bartın, Turkey, fulfilling a request that dates back 66 years. The decision was finalized through Presidential Decree No. 11728, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The initiative to establish a local forestry office in Kumluca first began in 1960. Following recent efforts by Kumluca Mayor Mustafa Bozkurt, along with support from AK Party Bartın Deputy Yusuf Ziya Aldatmaz, former Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, and Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı, the request was granted.
Kumluca is characterized by high forest density, making the new directorate central to the more effective management of the region's natural resources. Local officials noted that the establishment of the office fulfills a long-standing campaign promise and is expected to address regional forestry needs more efficiently.
